I read in BoingBoing.net about iPod's ability to display text files as notes. I researched and found quite a few sites doing this. The online tools, were limited to simple text files. I am testing this little utility to create a a series of 4K note files for the iPod.
The program reads a web site, scrubs out the formatting, except for
and
tags, adds a title and some navigation and then returns the zip file.
There is very little error checking. The iPod limits you to 1000 pages which means stories under 4 megs in size. For the time being I am limiting the size of files to 100K.
Please let me know if it works on your iPod.
Instructions:
Fill in all fields. You need the URL of the web page that you want to read in your iPod. You have to make up a title. You also need to select a short name so you can find the notes on your iPod.
After you press the Submit button, extract the returned zip file to your iPod Notes/ directory. Turn on your iPod and use the Extras->Notes menu to browse the notes on your iPod. The files should show up in a Noterious directory in a subdirectry with the same name as the zip file.
